February Brings Lots Of Love, Dallan's Birthday, New Experiences For Melanie, And... WARMER Weather!

This month I went to the dentist to have my semiannual teeth cleaning. I got three cavities. Poop! I haven't had a cavity since I was seven years old... LITERALLY! They did the teeth cleaning the first day and then the following week, I went back to get my cavities filled.
The first time I went, I went with my Father-in-law (Lance). We worked it out so that each of us took turns watching Melanie while we had our turns getting our teeth cleaned. Melanie did pretty well for a one year old kid. The hygienist gave her a balloon and her very own toothbrush.
The Squish thought she was the coolest kid in town! She was the life of the party at the dentist!

Here is a picture of Melanie and her grandpa waiting for the dentist to come in.

The week I went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned and the following week when I got the cavities filled.

So... I know that this is a random picture, but I found this hilarious. I was over at my parents' house and I noticed this bad boy on the bookshelf. My mom is seriously blind as a bat (no offense Mom). Hahaha!
These scriptures are so big you could probably lay them out on the ground and see them from space! Haha!
Love you Mom!!! :)

Ok, here is the thing that you have to understand about Utah. Once it hits about 40 degrees outside, it's considered hot and people come out in shorts, tanktops, and flip flops. It's weird. To me and my family, that's just considered time to go outside and play. We STILL get bundled up though. Hahaha!
Anyways, we've been going outside a lot more and having loads of fun! Dallan and I like to go to the pavillion behind our stake center and let Abby run. Melanie LOVES it! She likes to try her best to catch up with Abby, run around, and explore.

We taught Squish how to tell everyone how old she is.
Look at that pointer finger!

Ok people, I know Melanie is only one year old.... BUT.... we are already having her help out with a few chores. It is now her job to feed the dog. Yes, she accidentally drops the food somtimes ALL OVER the floor. That's ok though, Abby is a living garbage disposal and finds every last bit.
For the most part, Melanie does great carrying the cup of food to the dog dish and dumping it in. She loves doing it too. She's a good helper.

This girl is seriously a goof. There's not a day that goes by where she doesn't make me laugh.

I had some left over potatoes and decided to make twice baked potoes with them. It turned out pretty tasty if I do say so myself.
Here's what I did....
Bake the potatoes at 400 degrees for an hour. Then I cut them in half and scooped out the insides and put it all in a bowl. I mixed the inside of the potatoes with crispy bacon, cooked ham cubes, sour cream, butter, cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions. Then I stuffed the potato skins with the mixture and popped them back into the oven at the same tempurature for another thirty minutes.
Mmmmm. They were yummy!

Another night I made some empanadas. They are a little more complicated to explain how to make, but they turned out good too.
I enjoy cooking and trying different things!

There were sure some beautiful clouds one evening. I had to take a picture of them, obviously.

On Valentine's Day, Dallan celebrated his 25th birthday. Boy he's getting old. Hehehe! Just kidding! I know, I know, some of you reading this are well over 25 years old ;)
Look at the bright side, compared to the people from the 1800's, we are all young!

Melanie loves her fishies!
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!"

Here is a close up of Abby. Just look at those big brown eyes.

Jammin' to some Keith Urban. For whatever reason, she loves him.

The usual Abby and Melanie moments. These two are adorable together. Here they are sitting on the couch and watching some Sesame Street together.
Awwwwww!
By the way, you can TOTALLY tell that Melanie loves that show.

Utah sure is a beautiful place to live.
Especially on a clear day.

Since it had gotten warmer, like I said before, we've been going outdoors a lot more. Melanie experienced taking Abby to the dog park for the first time. She loves animals so she was basically in heaven here. She kept pointing and getting all excited. It was too cute.

Melanie got up SUPER early one morning and she wouldn't go back to her crib. We ended up snuggling on the couch. Nothing wrong with that! I'll take it :)
I love her so much!

I went to the doctor the other day and Melanie had to come with me. I caught this artsy picture of her looking out the window.
Look at those baby blues!

We got to go to the park with Uncle Ricky! She had a lot of fun!

At first she was scared to walk on the wood chips. Hahaha!
She then faced her fears and got used to it.

Having fun with Uncle Ricky on the swings!

After having some fun with Uncle Ricky at the park, Dallan came home from work and we had even more fun at the park! I have to say, the slides are her favorite. She likes the swings for a little while, but then she starts to get motion sickness. Hahaha!
I think she likes the slides the best too, because she is able to go down it herself.
It's so fun going to the park and watching her get excited :)

Her smile makes my heart happy :)

Being a parent is one of the most, if not the THE MOST rewarding and special experience anyone can go through. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm glad and BLESSED that I have the opportunity to share it with my best friend, my husband.

February of 2014 is about over. March.... Bring it on!
And keep the warm weather coming, PLEASE!

2014 Has Begun And Melanie Is ONE Year Old! This Year Is Off To A Good Start!

Well everyone, it is officially 2014! Man, I can't believe how fast time has flown by. To think that this time last year, Melanie was only a little over a month old is crazy to me. This sweet girl is ONE YEAR old! It was been one of the greatest years for Dallan and me. We look forward to having many more incredible years with our little family.
I love being this little girl's Mommy. She brings us so much joy and is such a blessing in our lives.

Melanie's birthday was on January 2nd, but we decided to celebrate it the following weekend BECAUSE my brother Ricky came home from his mission a couple days after Melanie's actual birthday.

I made her this birthday cake for Squish so that she could smash it and have fun eating it.

My family and I decorated their house so that we could host her birthday party there. Our good friends the Hugie's came, my family, and Dallan's family were there as well. Our apartment would've been WAY too small for the event.

The cake was a success! She loved having it all to herself!

She knew exactly what to do with it!

Shortly after Melanie's birthday, my uncle Matt, aunt Valarie, and their little one Emmalie, came for a quick visit to welcome Ricky home from his two year mission. We had a blast with them and it was a nice surprise to have them in Utah.

Emmalie and Melanie hit it off. They became quick friends! Look at those puckered lips!
Kisses for everyone!

Dallan and I got the Squish her very own "Melanie sized" chair! She loves it!
Just look at that happy sweet face!

For Christmas, Dallan's grandparents got him tickets to the Utes Basketball games.
We have fun going as a family. Not to mention we got showed on the jumbo tron because Melanie makes the cutest Ute Cheerleader you ever did see!

Love this girl!

So chubby! I can't handle the cuteness!

We've introduced Melanie to coloring! She loves it and it keeps her entertained while I clean up the house.

Melanie LOVES going to pet store and looking at all the animals. Her and I came across these gold fish and decided to get some. They sure add some bright color to our fish tank. She enjoys watching them swim. I think I may enjoy it a tad more than her, but that's ok.

Melanie had her one year check up, along with a few shots and she did great! This picture is showing the nurse drawing blood from her thumb. The nurse pricked her thumb and as shown below, Melanie didn't cry one tear. She was one tough cookie!

As always these two are the cutest little friends and they HAVE to be shown in my blog. They spend a lot of time hanging out together.

Dallan and I got Melanie a stuffed Elmo for her birthday and I think he may be her favorite toy right now!
She always has to give him hugs!

Our little Rock Star in her sweet shades and sitting on her awesome ride!

When Matt and Val visited, we went to Scheels and Dallan took me on my first Ferris Wheel ride.
Let's just say my hands were quite clammy the whole time.

We've been teaching Melanie how to eat with utensils and on a plate.
She's not quite gotten the hang of it yet. She may still be too little, but she'll get it soon enough!

Just relaxing and watching Sesame Street...

Such a cheese ball!

We have fun putting tu-tu's on her head. Hahaha!

We've recently taken her to the zoo and it is so much fun now that she's gotten a little bigger. She LOVES all the animals!

Dallan got me my very own IPad as an early Valentine's Day present! I love it and it makes it a whole lot easier to blog too, which is definitely a plus!!!!

More 2014 adventures soon to come!!!
