Trip To The Zoo! Lions, Tigers, And Bears... OH MY!

Yesterday, we took Melanie on her first trip to the Zoo!
She absolutely LOVED it! Even before she was born I've been excited to take her there. I remember Dallan laughing at me because when she was two weeks old I suggested, "Let's take Melanie to the Zoo."
I know, I know... Not the smartest idea because she pretty much was a potato and couldn't focus on anything. Hahaha!
Almost six months later, things have changed, she's growing up, and WE TOOK HER TO THE ZOO!
It was so much fun! I don't know who was more happy, me or her.
Probably me.

Daddy and Melanie excited for some fun in the sun!

This kiddo was so good in her stroller and really enjoyed looking at all the new things.

Look! And elephant!
To Melanie, it was probably a giant version of her stuffed animal.

Dallan taking the baby to the next exhibit!

This one is kind if hard to see.
See it yet?
It's a rhino!!!

Last time a picture was taken in this nest was when I was pregnant!
Time has FLOWN by!
Hahaha! Get it? Flown? Nest?
Eh... I know, cheesy.
Deal with it.

Melanie really liked that this otter was almost the same size as her.

Melanie pulling her "turtle lip" face.
Hahaha!

These sea lions were awesome! They came right up to us! Melanie enjoyed watching them. It was so sweet to see her smile and having fun as they swam by. She probably thought they looked like Abby (our dog) with flippers.

Next we visited the gorillas. Again, this big guy came right up to us.
I wonder if animals know that Melanie is a baby and they just want to see her.
Either way, it was cool to see the animals close up.
When the gorilla came up to the glass, Melanie's eyes got HUGE!
My guess is she was thinking, "Man, that is one huge, hairy, butt ugly person."
Hahaha!
That's what I would've thought if I've never seen a gorilla before in my life...

We measured her. She is almost the same size as a baby gorilla!
The orange ones are orangutan measurements.

We took pictures with our faces in the apes. Ok that sounded weird....
Anyways, my face is with a gorilla and Melanie's is with an orangutan.

Melanie wanted some cuddles with Daddy.

The giraffes were Melanie's FAVORITE! I think she liked them the most because she could see them the best. They were ginormous!

Family picture at the Zoo!

Here is a picture of a few of the animals that we saw.

Lastly, we got our Little Squish a souvenir so we could remember her first trip to the Zoo. Since the giraffes were her favorite, of course we had to get her one!

This trip was a success! So fun and Melanie loved it! I'm sure Dallan and I will always remember this sweet experience we had with Melanie.

I'm excited to make more memories with my little family. Love them!

Summer Continues! Dallan's First Father's Day, Building A Swing Set, And Plenty More Shenanigans!

Well everyone, summer continues! We have been outside a TON and Melanie has loved every minute of it! She is definitely an outdoors person.
(As shown by the large smile in this picture)

I really enjoy doing my nails and making them cute and whatnot, BUT... Since Melanie has been born, I really have no time to do them unless she's asleep. Even then, I don't risk it because if she wakes up and I have to change a poopy  diaper with wet nails... Well you get the picture. I'm screwed.
One night, I decided to be adventurous and just paint my nails. I did them summery!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE having a baby girl.
It's so fun painting her tiny toes. Of course, I have to wait while she's sleeping to do them.
I even put a cute teenie tiny flower on her big toes!
Did I mention I LOVE having a little girl?

Melanie even got cute summer outfits!
They are ADORABLE!

This is me getting artsy with the camera. Hahaha! It is titled, "Baby looking off into the distance pondering upon the meaning of life..."
Hahaha! And that was me pulling crap out of thin air.
Let's just say this is a cute picture. Check out those eyelashes!!!

So we've been working with Melanie on sleeping without swaddling her. We bought her this little "Sleep Sack" and it has been doing the trick. It keeps her bundled, but lets her arms free at the same time. It's safe too because once your baby starts rolling over there are no loose blankets in the crib to get in their way. I HIGHLY recommend one for your baby.

This picture is not edited I swear! This is one of the reasons why I love summer! Beautiful sunsets!

So Dallan's family got this really nice play set for current and future grandchildren. Let's just say I don't think Melanie has to share this for a while. Hahaha! Dallan and them have been taking time during the evenings to build it! It's coming along nicely!
 I can't wait until it's finished! Did I say "I" can't wait?  I meant Melanie can't wait.... Hahaha!

The usual cute "best buds" picture. The blog wouldn't be complete without one.

My pretty baby girl in her summer dress all ready for church.

Since The Little Squish has been able to sit up, we put her in the cart kiddie seat instead of leaving her in her carseat. This picture was taken the first time we let her sit in the cart!
She loved it!

This June, Dallan had his first Father's Day! I hope he enjoyed it!

Melanie's two bottom teeth are coming in and one night we thought her top teeth were coming in too. She kept moving her tongue to the top of her mouth so we couldn't see anything. This was the only way we could see the top of her mouth. Hahaha!
It was a false alarm. No top teeth coming in yet.

Ok those of you who don't like snakes might get queezy by this next picture. Our good friends the Pace's have a little corn snake. Growing up, my brothers and I used to have one and it got pretty huge. This one is like a chubby earth worm. Melanie even tried picking it up with her feet.

The Pace's are so awesome! They gave us this bouncer thing with toys. Melanie absolutely LOVES it!
Thank you guys!
It buys us a lot of time!

Ok this picture is funny. I swear this kid can change moods like Utah changes its weather.
I guess you can say she's a typical woman. Hahaha!
One minute she'll be happy and laughing and you'll be thinking, "man, it's going to take forever to get her to sleep."
Once you think there's no hope.... BAM! She's exhausted and screaming her head off because she wants food and to go to bed. Hahaha!

Basically, this summer has been fun and it's only the beginning of it!

I'm excited to see what else this summer is going to bring!

Summer Is Officially On Its Way! It Has Only Been A Week... AND June Has Already Been A Month Of Excitement!

So... To start off the month, we celebrated this cute kiddo turning five months old! I can't believe how fast time is going by. It's weird for me to think that she is almost half a year old. CRAZY!
We took these cute pictures at the same time we took our family pictures. Those will SOON be posted on here! We are just waiting for them to all be edited.
BUT... For now, here are two pictures of Melanie as a five month old!

The other day I went to my parents' house and my mom and I went on a walk around their neighborhood.
We ran into this sweet family while they were out in their yard. I love these two. They are in my parents' ward at church, and they have always been like grandparents to my brothers and me (which has been really nice because we have no family here in Utah).
We HAD to stop and visit with them!
They both couldn't get over how "thick" Melanie is. They kept saying, "She sure is one healthy baby." Hahaha!

Dallan and I are so blessed to have such a happy little girl!

Ok everyone, I have a confession to make. I have a SERIOUS addiction...
Frozen Yogurt!!!!!
Mmmm.... I can't tell you how much I love this place, Yogurtland.
I need help.

A few days ago my youngest brother Ben graduated from high school! Yay for the class of 2013! So proud of you Bro!
Here is our Little Squish wearing Ben's graduation cap. It was quite huge on her and she was so confused as to what the heck was on her head. Hahaha!
Her facial expression is priceless!

The next day, after Ben's high school graduation, he was able to go though the Temple for the first time.
It was a great experience for all of us!

Me and my love.

This picture makes me laugh. This little girl sure can get some cleavage!

OF COURSE... Here's a cute baby/dog picture.

Ok I know this is sick, but every time Abby licks Melanie... For some reason Melanie ALWAYS has her mouth wide open. It's almost as if Melanie wants the inside of her mouth licked.
Don't worry people! We don't let Abby ever lick the inside of her mouth (except for this one time because I wanted to take this picture). Hahaha!
We know dogs lick their butts and junk.
Although, I did hear somewhere that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's.
Think about that!

This cute Munchkin can sit up now! She's been trying to for weeks now. She finally accomplished it!

We went to Applebee's the other night for dinner and since she can sit up now, we asked for a high hair. She did great for her first time sitting in one!

A few more pictures of her sitting up and playing with her toys.

A couple nights ago we had a sleepover with Uncle Ben. It was a fun filled night with popcorn, Oreos, and a movie!
We had a blast!

So last night for dinner I made these pork chops.
BEST PORK CHOPS EVER!
If I do say so myself... Hahaha!

After dinner last night we went to Murray Park for an evening stroll. Since the weather has gotten a lot warmer, we are outside a lot going on walks and just playing around.
We love it. Melanie seems to enjoy it too!
Look and that HUGE smile!

Since Miss Squish has been sitting up by herself, I decided to give her a bath without the baby support thing.
She did great! She had a ball! Melanie was splashing, giggling, and having the time of her life!
(Although, by her facial expression in this picture you would have never guessed that) Hahaha!
She REALLY DID have fun!

Ok ladies and gentlemen, drumroll please!

Melanie has her first TOOTH! It started popping through a few weeks ago and now it's really visible! Oh, and that little thing sure is sharp! It's like a little shredder!
She started chewing EVERYTHING and slobbering a ton. This is why!!! She has a tooth, she has a freaking tooth!

More June adventures coming soon to a blog near you!
